LearnHouse is operated by a company incorporated in Delaware, United States, and acts as the data controller for the information described below, except where we act as a processor on behalf of our customers (see "When we act on behalf of our customers").
Please read this alongside our Terms of Service. If you self-host LearnHouse, you are the controller of the data on your own instance, and this policy does not apply to it.

When a creator or organization uses LearnHouse to run courses, they decide what learner data to collect and why. For that data, the creator or organization is the controller and LearnHouse acts as their processor, handling the data only to provide the Service and following their reasonable instructions. If you are a learner with questions about how your data is used in a particular course or school, please contact that creator or organization directly. For customers who need one, we can make a data processing agreement available.
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. For product analytics we use PostHog, hosted in the European Union. Essential cookies are needed for the Service to work; non-essential cookies are used only where permitted or with your consent. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling some may affect functionality.
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the Service, under agreements that require them to protect it and use it only for us. Our main sub-processors are:

We store personal data on infrastructure located in the European Union. Some of our sub-processors (for example Stripe) may process limited data outside the EU, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your information.
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After you close your account, we delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep certain records to meet legal, tax, or accounting obligations, or to resolve disputes. Limited backup copies may persist for a short time before being overwritten.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are a learner in a specific course or school, you may need to direct some requests to the creator or organization that runs it. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
We use technical and organizational measures such as encryption in transit, access controls, and hashed passwords to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly to any incident. You can read more on our security page.
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information without appropriate consent. Where a school or organization uses LearnHouse with younger learners, that organization is responsible for obtaining any required consents. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without consent, contact us at hello@learnhouse.app and we will remove it.
The Service may link to or integrate with third-party websites and services that we do not control. This policy does not apply to them, and we encourage you to review their own privacy policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
